IRMM has dedicated facilities for reference materials production that are able to handle large amounts of various types of materials, even those hazardous for health, and controlled storage conditions for all materials are available. The radionuclide metrology laboratory houses instrumentation for extremely accurate radioactivity measurements and small amounts of radioactive substances can be studied in the underground laboratory of IRMM located at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre in Mol. IRMM operates a 150 MeV linear electron accelerator (GELINA) and a 7 MV light-ion Van de Graaff accelerator. The two accelerators of IRMM, used for neutron production, offer experimental conditions that are complementary to other installations in the world. |
