Scope of the symposium
The symposium aims at mapping out the current and upcoming measurement and testing needs for which challenging demands on reference materials are envisaged. Forward-looking contributions are invited on the scientific and technological demands and developments for the design, preparation and certification of such measurement standards.

Presentations
Oral presentations are 25 minutes for invited contributions and 15 minutes for regular contributions. One extended poster session is foreseen. Participants will be informed about the selection of oral and poster presentations by 15 September 2010.

Abstracts and full contributions
The deadline for abstract submission is 30 June 2010. Abstracts will be published in the proceedings. Printed copies for the participants and an electronic version for general distribution will be made available. Instructions for the format of the abstract and the full paper will be available on the workshop website. Both should be submitted in electronic format in accordance with the guidelines. It is intended to publish the full papers in form of an EUR Technical and Scientific Research report with ISBN number. Further details will be given on the website.

  • food safety
  • nutrition
  • environment
  • calibration and purity assessment in chemical analysis
  • nanotechnologies
  • Nuclear safeguards
  • Material science

Registration 
Registration will be opened on 20 May 2010 and be restricted to 150 participants in order to ensure an ideal atmosphere for fruitful discussions and to enhance collaborations among leading experts from different fields. The last day for registration is 22 October 2010. There will be a registration fee of €150 covering the bus transport, meals and proceedings for non invited participants. Accommodation and travel
JRC-IRMM will reserve a number of rooms in a hotel. Local transport from/to Brussels airport, from/to JRC-IRMM, from/to the hotel will be foreseen by JRC-IRMM. Details will follow on this website.
