Measurements of Hiroshima steel samples help understanding of exposure effects
|
| 15/04/2010 |
| Scientists at the Joint Research Centre in Geel, Belgium have performed extremely low-level measurements of radioactivity in old steel samples from Hiroshima. These latest measurements provide robust support to Hiroshima dosimetry calculations, which are crucial for man's knowledge about the effects of radiation on the human body. |
Nuclear physics unveils secrets of Bronze Age sword
|
| 25/02/2010 |
| Physicists at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) have helped unveil the secrets of a Bronze Age sword with neutron beams normally used to study materials for nuclear reactors. The work was carried out by a team of European researchers investigating the application of modern scientific methods to cultural heritage objects. |
